End Point Security

End-user devices (or end-points) are increasingly becoming the preferred target for hackers and IT criminals. With many end-points accessing corporate applications and sensitive data, checking the integrity of an end-point before allowing access forms an integral part of providing a secure corporate access service.

Many organisations wish to enable a wide range of different users real-time remote access to resources on the corporate network. This shift to anytime/anywhere access introduces new security requirements and becomes a real challenge for corporate IT to manage. The main challenge is to enforce security on devices and networks that are not under corporate control, such as partner and customer computers, handheld terminals, and public networks. The requirement for anytime/anywhere access means the corporate boundaries no longer are at the firewall or the edge of the network the boundaries are now at the end-point.

PortWise offers features for client security that enable your organisation to secure the end points outside your firewall boundaries. PortWise end-point security assesses the security, health and status of your end points, as well as applying protection to them so they can not be used by Trojans and other malicious software to get access to the corporate network.

PortWise end-point security provides the following features:

  • End-point assessment - A rapid scan of an end-user device before it connects to the corporate network to match against network, application and operating system requirements, e.g. is anti-virus software and personal firewall installed on the end-point, and are they up to date?
  • End-point protection - An on-demand client firewall that ensures only pre-approved applications can connect to the VPN tunnel. A built-in personal firewall protects the end-point for inbound traffic.
  • Session cleanup - Removes all traces of access from the end-point on completion of the session.
  • Windows Security Center integration - PortWise End-point Security integrates with Windows Security Center on Windows XP and Vista clients to ensure a comprehensive support for 3rd party client security products.
