PortWise TruID is a unique software based solution for enabling trusted, multi-factor authentication without the complexity of distributing hardware security tokens. With PortWise TruID, organisations may empower their users with strong authentication technology that is easy to use, easy to manage, cost effective and secure.

PortWise TruID can be run either stand-alone or as an integrated component in the PortWise Access Manager. PortWise TruID provides a number of innovative mechanisms for strong user authentication through a standard RADIUS interface. PortWise authentication methods include:

  • PortWise Web Password
Aweb-based token that runs in the user's web browser. PortWise Web Password adds significant security compared to static passwords as the scrambled online keypad protects against trojans and keyloggers.
  • PortWise Mobile Text
Combines a static password with the possession of a physical device that the user already has, such as a mobile phone, PDA, pager or laptop. A wide range of delivery channels can be utilised to deliver one-time-passwords to the user device, including SMS, e-mail, and Blackberry.
  • PortWise Soft Token
A JAVA based security client that generates one-time-passwords. The client installs on a hardware device that the user already has, such as a mobile phone, PC, pager or PDA.
  • PortWise OATH
PortWise TruID has built-in support for OATH (Open Authentication) to authenticate users with an OATH compliant hardware or software security tokens.
  • PortWise Password
Provides a basic authentication service based on static passwords.
  • 3rd Party Authentication Support
In addition to the above, PortWise supports an additional 14 other authentication methods, including token based solutions from RSA, VASCO, and VeriSign, making it easy to integrate with your preferred method of authentication and leverage existing investments.

Integrated Authentication
PortWise TruID can be configured as an integrated component to the PortWise Access Manager. By using integrated PortWise authentication with the ability to enable multiple authentication methods, the PortWise Access Manager can make access policy decisions based on the type of authentication used to allow or deny access to internal applications and services.
